Long Covid
Long COVID, also known as post-COVID-19 syndrome or long-haul COVID, refers to a condition where individuals continue to experience symptoms for weeks or even months after recovering from the initial COVID-19 infection. While there isn’t a standardized definition, long COVID is generally described as a chronic condition that persists long after the acute phase of the illness.
Statistics from the global clinical studies of long COVID published in the International Journal of the Infectious Diseases, show that Long COVID affects approximately 31% of individuals in North America, 44% in Europe, and 51% in Asia. Ongoing clinical trials focus on addressing persistent issues such as fatigue, lung function, and cognitive difficulties. Despite ongoing research, an effective and universally accepted treatment for long COVID has yet to be established. More investigation is needed into the condition’s underlying causes to develop reliable solutions.
Common Symptoms of
Long Covid
Long COVID can cause a wide range of symptoms that persist for weeks, months, or even years after the initial COVID-19 infection. These symptoms can vary in intensity and may fluctuate over time. While some individuals experience significant improvement within three to six months, others may need comprehensive care due to ongoing health challenges. Symptoms can be difficult to diagnose and may lead to long-term health issues or disability.
Frequent Symptoms of Long COVID based from U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC):
✅General symptoms: Fatigue that affects daily activities and worsens after physical or mental exertion. Fever is also commonly reported.
✅Respiratory and heart symptoms: Difficulty breathing, persistent coughing, chest pain, and heart palpitations (rapid or pounding heartbeat).
✅Digestive symptoms: Diarrhea, stomach pain, and constipation.
✅Neurological symptoms: Brain fog, difficulty concentrating, headaches, sleep disturbances, dizziness upon standing, and altered taste or smell. Some may also experience anxiety or depression.
✅Other symptoms: Muscle and joint pain, skin rashes, and changes in menstrual cycles. Many individuals also report symptoms that are difficult to explain or manage, making diagnosis and treatment challenging.
Long COVID’s unpredictable nature and variety of symptoms make it crucial to seek medical attention for proper care and management.

“I feel like the course helped me to better understand the nervous system and to get some strategies to help. For me, usually calming down the sympathetic nervous system. It was also helpful in getting strategies to cope with crashes when I would get overwhelmed and find that my body would go into shutdown.”
Jenna
“Before I did start the course I didn't really understand somatic and poly vagal work and I didn't understand how to bring my system down and calm my system. Although I'd done Rebecca Toland's be your own medicine course. And I've done reset program with OHC. But, yeah, this gave me the hands on knowledge and that made a big difference. The parts that I use most are the hands on type work. So how holding your hands on your face and your eyes, your heart, holding your hands. Um I find them the most useful way to calm myself, get myself out of fight flight. Um The grounding stuff doesn't resonate with me as much. Um The orienting does, but the um pushing away and the this is mine, this is mine also not as much. Um but the hands on my face is actually really resonates. So two things I mentioned, it's very easy, very accessible because it's just two small videos. Um So that was, that was good because a lot of them really complicate things and you finish the course and don't actually know what you've learnt. Um I found that with Rebecca Toland's course. Um And the second thing, oh, sorry. I don't know. Um That's, that's all.”
